This is a vintage film spotlight manufactured by Mole Richardson for Berkey Technical. It’s a Type 414 5Kw Senior Solarspot, dating from the 1950s.
Although it was manufactured by Mole Richardson it is badged as a Berkey Technical lantern but the specification is the same as Mole Richardson’s own product.
This light was salvaged from a world-famous film studio just outside London and was in completely original condition when discovered. Perfect for dressing and lighting events and parties that require a retro or vintage look or just to add an original design as a talking point.
This impressive lantern is original in all mechanical respects. The body is painted in a light metallic blue/green colour and retains the patina of a hard-working life. All of the original fittings have been cleaned and left as they are.
The unique interior focusing mechanism has been stripped back to its individual components, and all of the components restored to their original function and is now fully operational once again. The bi-pin lamp holder is intact and an adapter plate fitted to it to locate an E27 lamp holder and an LED lamp to exactly the same filament centre height as the original 5k Tungsten Halogen bulb.
The light has been completely rewired using 3m of cloth-covered elephant grey cable with an inline switch. The original holophane fresnel lens and reflector have been re-fitted and are in excellent condition Because of its impressive size – over 15″ in diameter and 24″ long we have fabricated a heavy-duty floor stand to carry the lantern.
