Fully Reconditioned 1950s Theatre Lantern
This is an original Patt 123 made by Strand Electric in their Covent Garden works. The lantern is superbly engineered, and features a die cast ventilated body, 360 degree rotation, a classic and iconic egg shaped design and an internal reflector.
It is a genuine and original piece of theatre history. It is not flawless and brand-new but does show the knocks, scratches and repairs of a hard working life which is what give it it’s own unique character and patina.
The body has been professionally polished and converted to take a domestic Edison Screw lamp. It is fitted with Black cloth covered cable, with an in-line switch and moulded plug. It has been tested for electrical safety and is supplied with a certificate of compliance
The Patt 123 is a fresnel spotlight and gives a wide soft edged beam for highlighting walls or ceilings. Colour filters can be added in a frame fitted to the runners at the front to create mood lighting.
The Lantern is displayed on a wooden base stand but can also be suspended from a ceiling fitting, wall bracket or mounted on a handmade classic wooden tripod floor stand.
It is also available with a rare set of original barndoor shutters – see pic on left. These have been stripped and chromed to match the lantern.
