Fully Reconditioned 1960s Theatre Lantern
This is an original Mk2 Patt 23 made by Strand Electric in their Covent Garden works. The lantern is superbly engineered, and features a die cast ventilated body, 360 degree rotation with an iconic circular design and a set of four beam shaping shutters.
It is a genuine and original piece of theatre history, and does show signs of it’s working life. It is not flawless and brand-new but has its own unique patina. The body has been professionally polished to a high gloss silver finish. Internally the lantern has been converted to take a domestic Edison Screw LED lamp. It is fitted with cloth covered flex cable, with an in-line switch and moulded plug and has been tested for electrical safety
The Patt 23 is a profile spotlight and gives a sharp beam for feature / architectural lighting and showing specific objects such as a work of art. Coloured filters can be added in a frame fitted to the colour runners at the front to create mood lighting. The installed shutters allow the user to shape the beam of light to suit their requirements
The Lantern is displayed on a wooden base stand but can also be suspended from a ceiling fitting, or wall bracket or mounted on a handmade classic wooden tripod floor stand – please call us to discuss your requirements.
