Description

Fully Reconditioned Theatre Lantern

Manufactured by WJ Furse in their Traffic Street works in Nottingham from the mid 1970’s to late 1980’s

We have one of these smaller fresnel spotlights rescued from a backstage store in a very poor condition. The casing has been stripped back,  to bare metal, repaired and re-coated to the original Rondel Blue finish.

Like it’s larger brother the JFR is well-engineered and has a rolled steel ventilated body, with a cast alloy lens housing which holds a 6″(150mm) fresnel lens. The lantern has 360o rotation and over 90o of tilt movement.

The lantern has been rewired to take a domestic Bayonet Cap lamp and fitted with silver cloth covered cable with in-line switch and moulded plug. It has been tested for electrical safety and will be supplied with a certificate of compliance.

The JFR is a fresnel spotlight and gives a wide soft-edged beam for highlighting walls or ceilings. Colour filters can be added in a frame fitted to the runners at the front to create mood lighting.

The lantern can be supplied with either wooden base stand or a handmade wooden tripod stand, and can be seen in the photo’s on the left.
