Fully Reconditioned Theatre Lantern
We have a pair of these impressive and now much sought after theatre lanterns.
They were manufactured by WJ Furse in their Traffic Street works in Nottingham in the 1970’s.
The MFR is well engineered and has a rolled steel ventilated body, with a cast alloy lens housing holding a large 8″(200mm) fresnel lens. The lanterns have 360o rotation, and over 90o of tilt movement.
These lanterns have come to us from a major public school where they had a part lighting countless plays and concerts. They have been professionally polished to a high sheen but still retain the knocks, scars and repairs of a hard working life giving them a unique character and patina.
Both have been rewired to take a domestic Edison Screw lamp and fitted with black cloth covered cable with in-line switch and moulded plug. They have been tested for electrical safety and will be supplied with a certificate of compliance.
The MFR is a fresnel spotlight and gives a wide soft edged beam for highlighting walls or ceilings. Colour filters can be added in a frame fitted to the runners at the front to create mood lighting.
The lanterns are displayed on a wooden base stand but can also be suspended from a ceiling fitting, wall bracket or mounted on a handmade classic wooden tripod floor stand – we have all types in stock, please call us to discuss your requirements.
